Want To Pursue Your Dream Career? Make 2019 The Year You Do It!
Are you happy with your current job or career? If you’re not doing something that makes you happy, then isn’t it time to change that? There are always a lot of ifs and buts as to why you shouldn’t do something, but it’s those things that are stopping you from doing what you want to do.
Are you serious about taking your career to the next level? Quit with the excuses and make 2019 the year you set out to pursue your dream career.
“I’m not sure what I want to do”
It can be difficult to pursue your dream career if you don’t know what you actually want to do. How do you overcome this? Go out and try things! Work experience or a bit of job shadowing are great ideas for finding out what a job is really like and seeing what’s out there. These opportunities also provide a chance to find out more about an industry, progression etc. to help you make your decision. Try as many opportunities as you can to help you figure things out.
“I don’t know how to get started”
When you know what it is you want to do, figuring out the right path to getting there can be the next hurdle. Luckily, there are many careers advice services out there to help you find your way. For example, the UCAS Careers Advice Service has some great advice on how to get started and tell you what qualifications (if any) you need. Figure out a pathway to success and work on navigating it.
“I can’t afford to study”
Even when you go to university, it can be difficult to know what you want to do – which is why many graduates end up doing a postgraduate degree or another degree altogether. However, studying a second degree is easier than ever thanks to Masters Loans from the Government, or you could get a £10,000 loan from Evolution Money to help you cover your fees and living costs. You’ll have to pay the loan back of course, but consider it an investment in yourself to help you get to where you want to go.
“What if it all goes wrong?”
It’s normal to have doubts, but that shouldn’t be a reason to stop you from pursuing your dream career. Learn how to boost your confidence to help you put your fears behind you and to help you go for it. Wouldn’t you rather take a chance than look back in a few decades time and wonder ‘what if’? Talk to friends and family about your doubts, they should be there to give you the support and encouragement you need.
Whatever you want to do in life, don’t let anything hold you back. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and you should be able to achieve anything you put your mind to. Make 2019 the year you pursue your dream career – things could look very different by this time next year!
